Meet the Teacher: Corrie Locke-Hardy
On Mondays, you can find Corrie leading our Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten students through yoga poses in the Big Game Room. She has taught all our students a super-special yoga code word that we use at the end of every practice: Namaste. Since starting yoga, many of our teachers have noticed differences in our students’ calmness after class and bodily self-awareness in their movements. According to the National Institutes of Health, yoga is an effective tool for children to deal with stress and self-regulation. It provides training of mind and body to bring emotional balance. Thank you, Corrie, for bringing this opportunity to our students.
Throughout the week, Corrie offers a variety of fun choices during the Afterschool program. She also helps out in the Junior Kindergarten classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Her favorite read-aloud story is Giant Squid.
On Fridays, you can find Corrie exploring our students’ curiosity for the world around them in Science Club. They conduct experiments, test theories, and explore different branches of science, from physics to chemistry to biology and more. Recently, Corrie adopted some stick bugs, and is preparing a terrarium for our students to observe the insects and learn about their habitats. We are excited to announce Corrie’s Science Club will be a formal optional in the Spring.
We are so glad Corrie is part of the Tobin Beaudet Family!
Corrie lives in Roxbury with her wife, Emily Locke-Hardy (Club 1458). She enjoys hiking and camping, and is pursuing a Bachelors of Education at UMass Boston.
