OUR BELIEFS
philosophy & learning style
Philosophy
Tobin Beaudet Schools offers high-quality programs that recognize and support the whole child. We are committed to nurturing each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through a thoughtfully designed curriculum and a warm, supportive environment. Our educators provide responsive care and meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and a strong sense of self.
Children experience a healthy balance of small- and large-group activities, quiet and active play, and engaging indoor and outdoor exploration. Through these varied experiences, children build relationships, learn about themselves, and discover the world around them in ways that are developmentally appropriate, joyful, and engaging.
Our School-Age Afterschool Program is guided by the same philosophy and recognizes the importance of balance at the end of the school day. Children benefit from time to unwind, connect with friends, and pursue their interests in a safe and welcoming setting. Tobin Beaudet Afterschool was created with these needs in mind—offering a comfortable, supervised environment with a wide range of choices, including arts and crafts, theatre, dance, science, sports, and homework support.
Our goal is to create a place where children feel at home, valued, and excited to learn and grow.
Social Emotional Learning
At Tobin Beaudet Schools, we recognize that children at different ages and stages face unique developmental needs and challenges. Our approach to social-emotional learning focuses on meeting children where they are and supporting their growth with care, guidance, and understanding.
Our teachers help children learn to navigate their social world and understand their emotions while building the confidence and skills needed to handle social situations independently. Through daily interactions, children practice communication, cooperation, empathy, and problem-solving in a supportive classroom community.
We understand that a five-year-old and a ten-year-old have very different social and emotional needs. Our educators thoughtfully adapt their approach based on each child’s age and developmental stage while helping all children feel valued as part of the larger group.
By listening carefully, modeling respectful behavior, and guiding children through real-life experiences with their peers, we help them learn how to be thoughtful, empathetic, and positive members of their community.
