What Is Homework Club?
What Is Homework Club?
Since the start of the school year, Homework Club has been a tremendously successful new choice at Club 1458. We’ve received fantastic feedback from parents about students getting homework done at Club 1458, preparing better for tests and quizzes, and completing quiet reading in a timely manner! We are so pleased with this success and will continue to develop this programming.
Meet Dan!
Dan Gardner, a Middle School teacher with the Newton Public Schools, will be providing Homework Club support and supervision in the Middle School Lounge for 5th-8th grade students from Tuesday-Friday. Dan has a lot of experience with this age group and is looking forward to working with our 1458 kids.
We’d like to share a few Homework Club highlights:
- Optional choice that meets every day from 4 to 4:45 pm in the Homework Room
- Dedicated homework supervision and support
- Small group tutoring
- Preparation for quizzes and tests
- Space for quiet reading and writing
- Time management and study skill techniques
Here’s How It Works:
- Each day, a teacher will check your child’s agenda and inquire about required assignments, readings, and projects, as well as upcoming quizzes and tests. We will keep a log of the homework we work on with your child, and the log will be available for your review at pick-up.
- If your child does not have any homework to work on, or finishes their homework before 4:45 pm, they may participate in regularly scheduled Club 1458 activities.
