Position Overview
The major duties of this job involve connecting quickly with people in a poised, convincing, and enthusiastic way. This job will entail working at an extremely fast pace, and will require working cooperatively with people in order to complete tasks, and will be integral in motivating others. The job requires team or collaborative work within the organization, and will be integral in bringing out the best in others. This job will require a strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive to get things done correctly. Understanding people well and using that understanding effectively in motivating and persuading others to act, will be an important aspect of the job. Decisions will many times have to be made under pressure, and will generally need the ideas and advice of others. Details will need to be handled quickly and accurately. It is important in this job for goals to be set and reached, and for tasks to be completed in a timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates developmentally appropriate curriculum schedules and maintains EEC regulations
- Monitors and observes the daily operation of the classroom for safety, positive interactions and productive educational activities
- Carries full responsibility for children’s care and supervision during classroom hours in this setting
- Addresses, monitors and documents issues, concerns and problems of each individual child and discusses with staff/Director
- Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the families of every child, including through communication about the school and each child’s progress
- Encourages parent interest and involvement in the school. Seeks a partnership with parents. Maintains confidentiality
- Completes children’s evaluations as required. Maintains accurate knowledge of documentation in children’s files. Meets with parents during the year as required
- Creates and distributes in a timely manner classroom information for families, including: classroom newsletter, calendar and curriculum new and notices
- Adheres to all established policies, procedures and code of ethics
- Participates in required training programs, conferences, courses or other aspects of professional growth
- Attends faculty meetings as required
- Performs teaching responsibilities
- Attends to individual needs of children in classroom environment including hygiene and personal care activities as needed
- Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the Directors for follow-through
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education
- EEC Lead Teacher Certified or ability to obtain within 9 months
- Highly proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
- Familiar with or ability to learn Constant Contact
- Extremely detailed and accuracy-oriented
- Exceptional work ethic
- Ability to create a warm, welcoming and positive culture
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with others, collaborate and remain calm under pressure
- Team-oriented player with a positive attitude and ability to work independently
- Flexibility and willingness to assist teachers when needed
- Comfortable receiving direction and providing others with direction
- Warm, engaging personality with a focus on quality care for children
- Self-motivated
Compensation and Benefits
- Full-time, salaried position. Salary range: $19-21/hr, commensurate with expertise and experience.
